In the past, friends and coworkers had to rely on emails or telephone calls for long distance communication, but these methods are often inefficient. For example, using non-verbal communication, such as static images to describe a situation in an email, has no guarantee on a reply. Telephones provide real-time communication, but many things– like the intensity of a color - may not be adequately described over the telephone. The lack of interactivity inherent in traditional methods is not easily remedied.
More and more people rely entirely on computers and networks to do their work, often working in groups; and this work often consists of discussions with soft copy documents or software applications. In these situations it is best to have a highly interactive tool that is intuitive and easy to use and allows coworkers to work together online, effectively communicating and solving problems. This was precisely our goal when designing Gogrok.
